INFOhio, Ohio’s PreK-12 Digital Library, supports educators statewide by providing quality digital content, web tools, and professional development at no cost. Through our train-the-trainer INFOhio ICoach program, teacher leaders learn to integrate INFOhio’s digital content into instruction using our Learning Pathways training curriculum. Educators build capacity as teacher leaders by offering professional development opportunities for their own schools and districts on INFOhio tools and resources. INFOhio empowers Ohio educators to become teacher leaders by expanding their professional learning network through our ICoach train-the-trainer program.

Every quarter, INFOhio will be featuring the amazing work of INFOhio ICoaches across the state. Not only are INFOhio ICoaches trained to share INFOhio’s quality resources with their schools and districts, but they are also champions of equity. At INFOhio, we believe that every Ohio student deserves the opportunity to learn from high-quality, standards-aligned instructional materials to become a resilient, lifelong learner who contributes to society.

HOW DO YOU DEFINE SUCCESS?

In Coach John Wooden’s book Pyramid of Success, success is defined by knowing in your heart that you have done your 100% personal best. To me, I may not always be the best, but if I am MY best, then I am successful.

WHAT IS YOUR HIDDEN TALENT?

I like to think that my hidden talent is hiding my talents, until the perfect moment that is. For example, surprising everyone with a killer karaoke song, presenting a professional speech on a moment’s notice, drawing a character from a book for a student or helping others with their computer questions. I enjoy being able to step up to the plate when needed.

WHAT DO YOU ENJOY MOST ABOUT BEING AN INFOHIO ICOACH?

I love that INFOhio is available to our students 24/7. So many terrific resources are available and free to use. I have always enjoyed sharing a great resource and INFOhio is just that. I feel like I have the key to a secret treasure chest!

WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE INFOHIO RESOURCE? WHY?

I think my favorite INFOhio resource would have to be World Book Kids. It may be because when I was young, we could not afford the complete set of World Book Encyclopedias and we had to choose our reports based on the editions we did have. I am excited that the students get to carry them around with them and read them any time they want to. The students love the colorful pages, fun activities, and discovering cool facts about things that they are interested in. They are so excited for the self-guided learning that they are able to do on World Book Kids.

DESCRIBE YOUR "BIGGEST WIN" THAT DEMONSTRATES HOW YOUR ROLE AS AN INFOHIO ICOACH AND INTEGRATION OF INFOHIO RESOURCES SUPPORTS INSTRUCTION, STUDENT LEARNING, OR EQUITY WITHIN YOUR SCHOOL.

Students at my school are familiar with the digital resources on INFOhio, we review them often and use that time to explore freely. The fourth grade students decided to trick their teacher and learn about their next science subject before she taught it! We were all thrilled with the initiative and the students were excited to share their knowledge! I think this is a big win on any scorecard!
