ICoach Program

Regional and District/Building ICoach Programs

Looking for professional development support? INFOhio sponsors a regional ICoach team and district/building ICoach team that can help you with your professional development needs.

Regional ICoach

The INFOhio regional Certified ICoach trains classroom teachers and other educators to use INFOhio resources effectively while helping them to integrate INFOhio into their classrooms. Each of Ohio's 16 state support regions has at least one ICoach.

  • The INFOhio ICoach encourages educators to develop 21st century instructional strategies through utilizing INFOhio resources.
  • Each ICoach will conduct training sessions for educators that deepen understanding of the instructional usage of INFOhio's electronic tools and resources, and INFOhio’s connection to the Ohio Learning Standards, as well as focusing on literacy, college and career readiness, and technology innovation.
  • Hands-on experiences will be encouraged.
  • The ICoach will endeavor to work with building/district professional development committees to tailor training sessions to meet the needs of those being trained.

If an ICoach can support your building/district's instructional development efforts, please contact an ICoach that serves your region for availability and applicable fees.

2018-2019 District Building ICoach Renewal

INFOhio District/Building ICoaches renew their certification annually. 2018-2019 D/B ICoach renewal concluded on September 21, 2018. If you were a D/B ICoach who missed the renewal, please email central@infohio.org.

District/Building ICoaches renew their INFOhio D/B ICoach certification annually. Annual renewal for the District/Building ICoach program for the 2018-2019 school year begins August 13, 2018 and runs through September 21, 2018.
If you are a current District/Building ICoach, check your email for 2018-2019 renewal instructions. If you did not receive an email with renewal instructions, contact central@infohio.org.

By September 21, 2018:

  1. Click here to download the D/B ICoach renewal PowerPoint. Open the presentation, click Slide Show in the menu, and then check the box next to "Use Presenter View." You will need to view the slides and the notes together. Then play the presentation from the beginning. When you reach slide 35 you have the opportunity to decide which path you would like to take to complete the slide set.
  2. When you have reviewed the presentation, click here to complete the 2018-2019 District/Building ICoach certification renewal form in SurveyMonkey. Your renewal will then be complete.

**Note: Once you complete the renewal form, you will automatically be redirected to the page where you can get your contact hour certificate.**

Please plan to complete your renewal by September 21, 2018. If you have questions about this process, contact central@infohio.org.

Then feel free to save your copy of the PowerPoint presentation, add or remove slides or notes as needed, and use it any presentations or conversations you have with colleagues throughout the fall semester! Remember that even a conversation with colleagues about using the INFOhio resources "counts" as a form of outreach.

Report all of your outreach efforts in the 2018-2019 District/Building ICoach Report Back form.

2018-2019 New INFOhio District/Building ICoach Information

Purpose: The INFOhio District/Building ICoach trains people within their building or district to integrate INFOhio digital resources effectively into their classrooms. The INFOhio District/Building ICoach also encourages educators to develop instructional strategies through using INFOhio resources. The value-added rationale for becoming an INFOhio District/Building ICoach is the ability to encourage “engaging and relevant” learning in their district or building by using the INFOhio digital learning resources. See the text of the District/Building ICoach invitation letter below.

Recommendation Process: Interested individuals will provide a recommendation from either their ITC Provider, Regional ICoach, building principal, or district supervisor speaking to the applicant's knowledge and usage of INFOhio’s tools and resources with teachers, students, and parents.

Certification Process

Selected applicants will participate in a self-paced, online course including webinars and learning modules. Each participant will receive a certificate of attendance for 15 hours of training. The course and webinars will cover critical District/Building ICoach topics:

  • Getting to Know INFOhio
  • INFOhio resources
  • INFOhio tools—integrating the learning with the resources

Expectations of October District/Building ICoach trainees

  • Provide at least one training on INFOhio resources to peers or parents during the remainder of the 2018-19 school year.
  • Provide handouts and contact hour certificates (if required) for training participants.
  • Report training dates and numbers of participants to INFOhio.
  • Share your training ideas or strategies with other District/Building ICoach members through the INFOhio listserv, social media, or the D/B ICoach course.

Preferred Qualifications for District/Building ICoaches

  • Current teaching or administrator license and/or library media experience.
  • Experience with technology teaching strategies.
  • Understanding of key learning theories and methods of instruction and their relation to technology integration.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge of Ohio Learning Standards and digital learning environments that encourage creative and independent use of instructional technology.
  • Ability to encourage the use of INFOhio resources by staff and students through student-centered, constructivist methods.
  • Ability to assist teachers in knowing which INFOhio electronic resource or interactive tool supports specific educational goals, as well as which ones provide support in using technology effectively on a daily basis.
  • Authorization of Superintendent, District Supervisor, or Building Principal.

***Trainers are solely responsible for determining the day, time and provision of a facility for their trainings. INFOhio will not pay for a trainer stipend, computer lab, travel or other expense or liability, which may be incurred through offering this instruction.
