Joseph Phelan has worked at the National Endowment for the Humanities for over a decade and a half in various roles including almost ten years in the EDSITEment program, NEH’s digital portal for K-12 teachers and students. At EDSITEment he is responsible for the development of history and social studies resources. He has a Ph.D. in political thought from the University of Toronto, and is an associate adjunct professor of history and government at the University of Maryland University College. He has published extensively. He is the founding editor of Artcyclopedia.com, the fine art search engine.
