Learning Objective
  • Reflect on learning by sharing information with others.
Check Your Learning

Use this checklist to determine whether you have met the objectives of the class.

  • I understand the meaning of advocacy.
  • I can identify resources to build advocacy for my school library.
  • I understand the importance of building relationships in my community.
  • I can identify organizations and associations which offer opportunities to network and build relationships with peers.
  • I can use social media and newsletters to communicate with the community.
  • I can identify tools that will build an online presence to promote my school library.
  • I can use reports and create infographics to represent school library usage.

Reflecting on Your Learning

Now that you have learned more about advocacy and how to use it in your library, answer the following questions in the INFOhio School Library Basics Open Space group. Look for the Reflecting on Your Advocacy Learning question.

  1. What part of the class and its activities was most helpful in your understanding of the topic? Why?
  2. What part of the class could be better? What would you do to improve it? Why?
  3. What was the most important thing you learned from this class? What makes it important to you?

Extend the Learning

Now that you have completed the training, make sure the learning doesn't stop. Once you have created your advocacy plan make sure to evaluate it. Consider these questions:

  1. What worked/didn't work? How will you replicate the success or correct the problem the next time you practice advocacy in your library?
  2. Which materials you learned about in the training will you use the most to integrate advocacy into your library?
  3. What are two pieces of advice you would give to a fellow librarian who wants to integrate advocacy into the library program?
