Reflecting

When the project is done, the learning goes on. Students engaged in inquiry should be encouraged to reflect on their process to determine what worked and what they wish to improve next time. Consider using this checklist with students from Research 4 Success Module 6

You will notice that each lesson in the class has a Reflect on the Learning section. Take time to review your answers to those questions before self-checking your learning as a whole below.

Reflecting on Your Learning

Now that you have learned more about using ISearch for inquiry, answer the following questions:

  1. What part of the class and its activities was most helpful in your understanding of the topic? Why?
  2. What part of the class could be better? What would you do to improve it? Why?
  3. What was the most important thing you learned from this class? What makes it important to you? This question can be answered in the INFOhio Resources for Research Open Space group Discussions. Find the What Did You Learn from the ISearch for Inquiry Class? reflection question. Reply to the thread and review other participants' responses.

Extend the Learning

Now that you have completed the training, make sure the learning doesn't stop. Once you have used ISearch for inquiry in your classroom and instructional practice, consider these questions:

  1. What worked/didn't work? How will you replicate the success or correct the problem the next time you use ISearch?
  2. What did you discover about your teaching or delivery style from using ISearch in lessons?
  3. What are two pieces of advice you would give to a fellow teacher who wants to integrate ISearch for inquiry into the classroom?
