Laura Hernandez Rochte
Librarian, Mount Vernon Middle School

Laura Hernandez Rochte is the librarian at Mount Vernon Middle School in Mount Vernon Ohio. She graduated from Ohio University in 2002 with her Bachelor’s in PK-12 Instrumental Music Education and received her PK-12 Masters in Library Information Science degree in 2007 from Kent State University. This is her seventh year as a librarian with her initial three years teaching 7th grade General Music in Jefferson Jr. High in Toledo, Ohio. She started Tattered Pages Book Club six years ago. The club started small with 8-12 members and now has 45-50 members which probably has something to do with the Harry Potter trip she organized.

Katie Johns, pictured on the right,  is 17 years old and a junior at Mount Vernon High School. She was a member of the Tattered Pages Book Club for two of her three years in the Middle School. She went on the Harry Potter trip her 8th grade year and helped organize fundraising opportunities for it. She is an avid reader and loved Tattered Pages so much she single-handedly began a high school book club called Book Jackets. As an aspiring writer, she enjoys writing in the third person.
