Getting to Know World Book Early Learning

 

Learning Objectives
  • Understand the importance of using digital text, print, and other media in early learning curriculum.
  • Use the navigational tools to search and browse to find the best content for students and instruction.

 

Access World Book Early Learning

You can use World Book Early Learning on a computer, tablet, or other devices with Internet access.

There are two ways to find World Book Early Learning quickly:

If you work with students ages 3-5:

  1. Go to www.infohio.org.
  2. Click the Ages 3-5 button.
  3. Click the blue "i" in the World Book Early Learning resource box.
  4. Read the additional information about World Book Early Learning.
  5. Click the Open button to access the resource.

You can also access World Book Early Learning via the INFOhio Early Learning Portal. Choose Educators and then click Language and Literacy Development. Choose Listening and Speaking or Reading to access the resource.

If you work with students in grades K-3:

  1. Go to www.infohio.org.
  2. Click the Grades K-5 button.
  3. Click the blue "i" in the World Book Early Learning resource box.
  4. Read the additional information about World Book Early Learning.
  5. Click the Open button to access the resource.

Answer the following questions in the World Book Resources Open Space group Discussions. Find the Features of the World Book Resources reflection question in the Discussions tab. Reply to the thread and review other participants' responses.
  • Thinking about the students you work with, name at least two features of World Book Early Learning that will most appeal to them based on what you learned from your quick glimpse at the resource.
  • What is one question you have about the resource that you hope will be answered during the training?
  • Think of a time when you used a website or online tool in your instruction. What did you like about using the digital resource? How was it different than using other resources in your teaching?
