Self-Assessments

Learning Objective
  • Reflect on learning by sharing information with others.

Check Your Learning

Use this checklist to determine whether you have met the objectives of the class.

  • I understand the definition of inquiry and have reflected on how I currently use inquiry in my classroom.
  • I have learned about the different dimensions that comprise INFOhio's inquiry model.
  • I can locate GO! Ask, Act, Achieve (GO!), and Research 4 Success (R4S) on the INFOhio website: www.infohio.org.
  • I can navigate GO! and R4S with an understanding of the organizational structure and tools unique to each website.
  • I have identified tools and resources located in GO! and R4S to support the inquiry process.
  • I have reflected on my learning by sharing information with others.

Reflecting on Your Learning

Now that you have learned more about GO! and R4S, and how to implement the inquiry process in your classroom, answer the following questions.

  1. What part of the class and its activities were most helpful in your understanding of the topic? Explain why.
  2. What part of the class could be better? What would you do to improve? Explain why.
  3. What was the most important thing you learned from this class? What makes it important to you? This question can be answered in the INFOhio Resources for Research Open Space group Discussions. Find the What Did You Learn from the What is Inquiry Class? reflection question. Reply to the thread and review other participants' responses.

Extend the Learning

Now that you have completed this class, make sure the learning doesn't stop. As you incorporate inquiry into your classroom, evaluate your teaching practice. Consider the following questions:

  1. What did you discover about your teaching style while exploring the four types of inquiry and INFOhio's inquiry model?
  2. What have you found successful in implementing inquiry in your classroom? What are some challenges with implementing inquiry in the classroom?
  3. What are two pieces of advice you would give to a fellow teacher who wants to incorporate inquiry into their classroom? How would you suggest they use either GO! or R4S as part of incorporating inquiry into the classroom?
  4. Which resources from GO! or R4S will you most use in your classroom?
