Classroom Integration Ideas

  • (ES): Model the skill of Drag/Slide/Drop using INFOhio’s BookFlix from www.infohio.org.  Select a familiar story such Chicka, Chicka, Boom Boom. Click on the Puzzlers button and choose the option, “Which Came First?”  Explain to the class that to complete the activity, they will need to hold down the left button on the mouse and pull the correct answer to the correct box and then releasing the button.  Demonstrate how to drag and slide.    Then have students log in to Bookflix’s and practice reading/viewing a story and completing the activity.

 

  • (MS, HS): Use INFOhio’s GO! to practice Drag/Slide/Drop.   Go to www. infohio.org, scroll to the bottom of the quick links area and click on the link to Go! Ask, Act, Achieve under the Student column.  Under ACT, chose the link to “How do I work with others in a group?”    Click on the link for Popplet.   Demonstrate how to create a popple and drag/slide them around the screen.   Students then use Popplet to create a flowchart of the characters in a familiar fairy tale.  Drag and move the boxes around the board.   Share the charts with the class.

How to use INFOhio's Resources to Practice Drag/Slide/Drop

  • (ES) Go to www.infohio.org. Select the K-5 resources box and then click on BookFlix
  • If necessary, enter your username and password.
  • To practice Dragging/Sliding: Choose any subject/topic are (such as Earth and Sky).
  • Pick a fiction/non-fiction book pairing (such as Come On, Rain and Rainy Weather Days).
  • Select the Puzzlers button screen.
  • Select the "Which Came First?" activity.
  • Practice your drag/slide skills with this sequencing activity. 

OR with PreK-1 students you can use Early World of Learning 

  • (ES) Go to www.infohio.org.  Select the K-5 resources box and then click on Early World of Learning
  • If necessary, enter your username and password.
  • To practice Dragging/Sliding:
  • Click on the blue 'Play' button ..
  • Select 'Sorting'.
  • Choose any sorting game (like Short Vowel Sound).
  • Practice your drag/slide skills by dragging the picture that represents that short vowel sound into the correct bucket.
  • (MS, HS) Go to infohio.org. Select the appropriate grade level and then click on Science Online.
  • If necessary, enter your username and password.
  • To practice Dragging/Dropping:  Choose any interactive experiment.
  • Practice your drag/drop skills with this experiment.
