Remote Learning with INFOhio: Supporting Parents

Author // Erica Clay Friday, 13 March 2020

Prepare for remote learning with resources, lessons, and more that all Ohio PreK-12 schools can use. Your students can keep calm, carry on, and keep learning with INFOhio!

Remote learning will be a new experience for many families. Helping parents understand the basics will make them more comfortable. INFOhio has several resources that you can share with parents to make remote learning a positive experience.

As your district develops messages to families, consider pointing out the How can I help my child with remote learning? FAQ item on INFOhio's Parents page. It includes a few simple steps parents can take as they plan for remote learning.

Most students will not need to manually log into the INFOhio website from home; we can log most Ohio users in automatically. However, to help those users who may be using a mobile device or security software that does not allow IP recognition, share your district's INFOhio username and password with parents. Consider printing your INFOhio username and password on these customizable labels and sticking them on papers or devices your students will be using at home. If you don't know your district's INFOhio username and password, you can look it up here: https://www.infohio.org/login.

You are welcome to share your district's INFOhio username and password in password-protected environments or on printed documents, but please do not share any INFOhio usernames or passwords on open webpages or documents posted to the open web.

To use most INFOhio resources, students need to start with the INFOhio website so they can be properly authenticated. To link to specific INFOhio resources on a school website or in a learning management system, use the URLs you see on INFOhio's Resource Links page.

Looking for parent letter templates on INFOhio resources? You can find those and more on the Parent Help Resources page. This page contains postcards, flyers, and templates you can modify and send home to parents. The BookFlix parent letter has information about BookFlix along with spaces for you to provide contact information and the INFOhio username and password. It is available in English and Spanish. Students who use Storia have individual logins. Add student login information to this parent letter template so that students can continue to use Storia at home.

Finally, remind parents that if they have any questions about the INFOhio tools or resources, they can contact INFOhio at support.infohio.org. Our support team can help parents find their district INFOhio username and password and can troubleshoot any access issues that may arise.

If you are looking for additional ways to share information with parents about INFOhio resources, see these lessons in the INFOhio Learning Pathways classes:
