Extracting your MARC record from Pine Mail


Note: The illustrations used are examples from NOACSC system. NOT all systems are alike, the steps may be different on the system that you are using. If you need assistance with the steps on how to get into your DASITE account please contact your DASITE or your Internet service provider


After you have finished selecting your MARC records from the union

Log on to your DASITE account

 

 

Go into Pine (type in Pine or PMDF Pine depending on how your DASITE has it setup)

--If you are having trouble getting into Pine. Contact your DASITE for instructions on how to get into Pine--

 

 

Read the mail message from Union_opac3@union.in

 

 

Hit the V key on your keyboard to view the attachment

 

 

Hit the S key on you keyboard to save the attachment

Delete the XB_MARC.DAT100 by hitting the backspace key

Rename the file to Microlif.001 or Microlif.002, etc. (this allows you to work with multiple files on the same disk) If you are going to only

use one file use Microlif.001

Hit return

Exit Pine

The next step is to get the MARC record from your DASITE account to your local computer. (This will depend on how your DASITE

wants you to download files from their system.

Here Kermit is used with e-term32 ( The steps may differ depending on how your DASITE has kermit setup and what emulator you are

using.

At the menu prompt type in Kermit or where you can get to Kermit (This depends on how your DASITE has it set up)

 

 

Type in Server

 

 

Click on File and receive (using eterm32)

 

 

In the Host File Name: Type in Microlif.001 (or Microlif.002 -- Depending on what you named it--) Or if you have more than one MARC

Record type in Microlif.*

In the PC File Name: Type in A:\

Click on Receive (Using eterm32)

 

After the file have downloaded to your floppy click on close

 

 

Type in exit and hit enter on your keyboard

You now can logout of your DASITE account


Log in to your Cataloging program

Insert the disk with your record/s into Drive A

Go to the "Import" feature (Follett or Winnebago) If you are using another cataloging system consult your users manual

Import from Drive A

The screen should tell you that the record has been imported
