SchoolRooms is a K-12 multimedia online discovery portal from SirsiDynix Corporation. SchoolRooms fosters interdisciplinary exploration by combining educator-selected, standards-based content with student-friendly software. The content consists of 71 Rooms or Subject Guides with more than 1,700 Web page views and links to more than 22,000 educator-selected Web sites, all related to national standards. In addition, SchoolRooms delivers approximately 3 million Best of Web sites indexed to links in the 71 Rooms. SchoolRooms provides federated searching of selected Core Collection resources. The SchoolRooms product also provides federated searching of local online subscriptions, links to local online catalogs and third party multimedia content. Visit the SirsiDynix demo site.

INFOhio offers SchoolRooms subscriptions for the 2009-2010 school year. The product is not part of the Core Collection of Electronic Resources. To help you decide if SchoolRooms is appropriate for your students’ needs and your district’s financial realities, INFOhio has prepared a Web page, Is SchoolRooms Right for Your Students? The page contains links to a fact sheet and other background documents, an explanation of how various funding sources can be used to purchase SchoolRooms, a link to the newest version of Price List 2009, and procedures for subscribing to SchoolRooms. 

SchoolRooms preview
Through a cooperative agreement with SirsiDynix, INFOhio evaluated a full version of SchoolRooms during the 2008-2009 school year. During the evaluation period, the product was provided without charge to all Ohio K-12 students, educators and parents. SchoolRooms consists of:

	71 Rooms for elementary, middle and high school, including Guides for educators, librarians and parents List of Rooms...
	Knowledge organized by headings and subheadings -- all leading to quality Web sites
	A search box to locate Web sites by title keywords
	Links to more than 22,000 educator-selected Web sites and selected Core Collection resources
	Three million Best of Web sites indexed to links in the 71 Rooms
	Federated searching of many of INFOhio's Core Collection resources and the OAIMC Digital Video Collection
	Library catalogs for INFOhio automated districts
	Explorations such as Cool Links, Fun & Games and Learn More About...

Evaluating SchoolRooms
INFOhio encourages Ohio students, educators and parents to tell us what you think about the product. Use the Help Evaluate section at the bottom of the right frame of the SchoolRooms home page (see left). This is where to report broken links and suggest additional Web links. A brief survey can be completed, and a suggestion form can be used to submit comments and suggestions.
