Staff Workstations - The WorkFlows Java™ client runs natively on either a PC or Mac.  Review the Client Installation Specifications document for wokstation requirements and recommendations. updated.gif (168 bytes)Note: Due to Apple's implementation of Java 1.6, effective June 2010, Mac users will be required to use Leopard (10.5.x), which might also require a hardware upgrade for library staff workstations.

The older WorkFlows C-client is PC-based and will not be supported by INFOhio after July 1, 2009. Libraries that need to convert from the WorkFlows C-Client to the WorkFlows Java client must coordinate with their ITC as some database preparation is required before the WorkFlows Java client can be properly used.

It is strongly recommended that Tech Coordinators review the updated.gif (168 bytes)Client Installation Specifications before installing any WorkFlows client.

Patron OPAC stations
- OPAC stations do not necessarily require as much RAM as staff workstations but should support current browser versions of Microsoft Internet Explorer or Mozilla-based browsers such as Netscape, Firefox, or Safari.

Barcode scanners - Barcode scanners that are currently connected to dumb terminals are typically not compatible with PC workstations and will likely need to be replaced. Libraries should check compatibility with the scanner vendor, their ITC or consult the list of scanners that have been tested with the new software.
