Staff Workstations - Dumb terminals are not useable with
SirsiDynix software. Rather, a personal computer is required for each staff workstation to
run the WorkFlows® client software.See
Client
Installation Specifications for equipment
requirements and special installation notes.
The new WorkFlows Java™
client runs natively on either a PC or Mac. Note: Libraries wanting to use
the Java Workflows client must coordinate with their ITC as some database
preparation is required before the java client should be used.
The older WorkFlows C-client is
PC-based. In the absence of a Mac-based WorkFlows C-client, Mac users need
to use a PC emulation program like
Virtual PC
in order to run the C-Client.
For this reason, Mac users are encouraged to switch to the java
client.
Patron OPAC stations - OPAC stations do not necessarily
require as much RAM as staff workstations but should support current browser versions of
Microsoft Internet Explorer or Mozilla-based browsers such as Netscape,
Firefox, or Safari. |
 |
Barcode scanners - Barcode scanners that are currently
connected to dumb terminals are typically not compatible with PC workstations and will
likely need to be replaced. Libraries should check compatibility with the scanner vendor,
their ITC or consult the list of scanners that have been tested with the new software.
