Summer Fun with INFOhio!

OK, so we know that school is just out and you can’t wait to ride your bike, go swimming, take a vacation or just hang out with your friends. But remember last summer, there was that day when you said “I’m bored!”?  When that happens this time, check out the Summer Fun Calendar for August.

August		August is Inventors' Month. August is the month that we celebrate inventors. Do you know what Willis Haviland Carrier invented? (There's a clue in this picture.) Go to American National Biography and type his name in the box at the very top. For more inventors, go to the box marked Realms of Renown and type inventors. What do you want to be?
August		August is National Artist's Appreciation' Month. Go to AMICO Library to see some of the finest works of art from museums across North America. Type in the name of your favorite artist such as Monet or Picasso, a subject such as cats or sunflowers, nationality of the artist such as France. 1		Kids' Day Celebrated the first Sunday of August each year, Kids' Day is a day to honor kids. Just for fun today, go to the Ohio public libraries' OH! Kids Web site and choose the right level. Here you'll find lots of fun ways to spend today or any day having fun on the computer!
4-15		Ohio State Fair Held in Columbus every year since 1853, our state fair has rides, entertainment, displays of Ohio produce and livestock, competitions and much more. This is a fun event for the whole family. For more Ohio fun, go to Ohio Historical Society's Ohio Kids!
16		Joke Day Impress your friends with some new jokes! Go to SIRS Discoverer and click on Activities in the lower right corner, then select Jokes and Riddles. While you COULD print the jokes and just read them, it's more fun to memorize them! Remember, your public library will have a lot more joke books!
