Typically a search on two or more words in Medianet is treated as a Boolean
"AND" search. Results have both words, but in any order and not
necessarily adjacent to each other. It is possible, however, to do an
exact phrase search on Medianet. Here's how:
At the menu, choose an "Any word" search:
The following types of information may be displayed:
C Client
I Interest area
T Title
S Subject
M on-line Manual
P Print
O Order
A titles via Any word(s) in title or annotation
Type of information to look at? A
At the prompt--"Text to search for?"--type an ampersand, then your phrase,
followed by a spacebar. Then hit return."
For example:
Text to search for? &world war i /sp\
In one database, the search above results in 47 hits as opposed to 235 hits
if typed without the ampersand and end the space.
Similarly:
Text to search for? united nations results in 31 hits
Text to search for? &united nations /sp\ results in 18 hits
. . . a quick way to more accurate results.
