Digital Video Collection

The Digital Video Collection is available to all Ohio K-12 schools at no cost to districts, educators or students. This collection was made possible through a Library Services and Technology Act grant awarded to the OAIMC by the State Library of Ohio, funding provided by the Ohio Area Instructional Media Centers (OAIMC), and is hosted by INFOhio.

You may view a list of all 203 Digital Videos or go to the Curriculum Resource Catalog to search for particular videos. To retrieve only digital videos enter your search term followed by "and digital videos." Select Ohio Media Resources from the Results Summary page for the list of titles that match your search.  Media Centers [PDF 2 pgs]  A list of the 203 titles by company. Digital Title List by Company

Real time video streaming works best with fiber, cable or full T1 connections - see the Technical Specifications below. Teachers may want to check with the school's technology coordinator to find out if there are streaming video restrictions due to the high amount of bandwidth needed.

Download
If streaming will not work or is prohibited, temporary downloading is an option. The video can be saved to a computer - or several classroom computers - for use any time during a 45 day period. See Technical Specifications below for additional information.

CD-ROM
If streaming or downloading are not options locally, contact your OAIMC to learn how to borrow these digital videos on CD.

Technical Specifications for viewing the videos
Macintosh or Windows computers work equally well, but it is essential to have the latest browser version either Internet Explorer or Netscape. The computer must also have a current version of a standard media player software such as Windows Media Player , QuickTime, or Real Player. Player software links are available on INFOhio's  Multimedia Tools page. Fiber, cable, or full T1 connections are ideal; slower connections will make streaming or downloading difficult. Note: You may view a downloaded file with Real Player, Windows Media Player or Quick Time. You must have the latest version of Windows Media Player (after 9/1/06) on your computer to stream the digital titles.

Can schools download videos to local servers for permanent access?
No, this is a violation of copyright. And if practiced will result in producers no longer selling digital videos to this and other consortiums for unlimited statewide access.

Why is a username/password required?
These videos have been purchased and made available for use by the Ohio K-12 community only. The use of a username and password to access the videos ensures that licensing agreements are met and copyright is not violated. After September 1 , 2006 you will be able to access the titles from any
K-12 classroom without a username and password since your school is registered with your local ITC. If you use at home or in a non-ITC school you can use the same username and password that is required for the INFOhio Electronic Resources. Contact your ITC or AMC if you need that infromation.

Have questions?
Contact the Ohio Area Instructional Media Center that serves your school/county.
