Dollars |
- Borrow for collections totaling more than 50 million items,
including books, DVDs, videos, music, audio books.
- Web based. Need only computer, current Internet browser and
Adobe Acrobat.
- Locate hard to find materials.
- Expands your collection with K-12 appropriate materials.
- Longer loan periods help students, allowing time to improve
reading comprehension. Especially helpful to those who have
visual/learning difficulties or need additional time.
- Prepares students for Inter-Library Loan (ILL) use in
colleges; one more skill to prepare students for their futures.
- Partnerships with other agencies: Collaboration can be
within a district, between districts or with a public library or
other agency using U.S. Cargo.

- Per pupil cost is low, usually less than $1 per
pupil.
- No software or equipment costs.
- ONLY cost is for shipping (U.S. Cargo or third
party).
- Can cut mailing costs. U.S. Cargo can be used by
administrators to send materials across the state to
other schools or public agencies using U.S. Cargo.
(Other examples: Coaches send DVDs, band directors
send competition packets.)
- Payment options:
1. Partner with local public library (no cost to you or
shared costs).
2. Partner with other school districts and
share costs.
3. Request grant seed money from PTA/PTO or
Educational Foundation.
4. Include per pupil cost in
student fees.
5. Use curriculum monies.
