Migration FAQs - WorkFlows® C-Client. GL3.1. XVT. Can someone explain the difference among these WorkFlows versions? Version GL3.0 This is the current version of the SirsiDynix WorkFlows staff client that INFOhio has installed in more than 2,000 buildings. It is sometimes referred to as the C Client or the XVT Client. It is Windows-based and has no native Macintosh capability; Mac workstations require emulation software to use the C-Client. Version GL3.1 INFOhio will distribute a Java version of Version GL3.1 to all Information Technology Centers (ITCs) during the summer of 2006. This new version provides a native Macintosh environment. Version GL3.1 will eliminate the Windows emulation software requirement for Mac users. Contact your ITC provider to learn more about using Macs with WorkFlows. INFOhio has revised our Migration Equipment Specifications to reflect the more powerful equipment the Java version of GL3.1 requires. Please consult with your Technology Coordinator to ensure that your current workstations meet these requirements prior to transition to Version GL3.1. SirsiDynix will provide a C-Client version of GL3.1. It will not support advanced features available in Java version of GL3.1. However, those buildings unable to immediately upgrade their workstations to support the Java version of GL3.1 will be able to use C-Client version of WorkFlows through the 2007-2008 school year, with a similar appearance and functionality found in the current version. To take advantage of new and enhanced features, building workstations will be required to meet the minimum equipment specifications recommended by SirsiDynix. Version GL3.2 SirsiDynix has yet to announce enhancements planned for this version. INFOhio anticipates that GL3.2 will be available to Ohio schools in the 2007-2008 school year. Can my school remain on Version GL3.0 and decline all the upgrades? In order to provide quality technical support and training materials, INFOhio will install Version GL3.1 at all ITCs during the summer of 2006. ITCs will coordinate the transition of districts from the C-Client to the more robust Java version of GL3.1. INFOhio expects all buildings to be using the newest Java version of WorkFlows by the start of the 2008-2009 school year.
