Can "dumb" terminals or Macintosh computers be used with the new software or is a Windows machine required?

Dumb terminals are not useable with SirsiDynix WorkFlows^®. A personal computer is required for all staff workstations. The current versions of  WorkFlows, Version GL3.0, is Windows-based. Macintosh users need a Windows emulation program like Virtual PC to use GL3.0.

INFOhio will distribute a Java™ version of Version GL3.1 to all Information Technology Centers (ITCs) during the summer of 2006. This new version provides a native Macintosh environment. Version GL3.1 will eliminate the Windows emulation software requirement for Mac users. Contact your ITC provider to learn more about using Macs with WorkFlows.

In addition to the Mac client, many new software features for both Windows and Mac clients are planned in WorkFlows GL3.1. The minimum workstation requirements for running GL3.1 is 512 MB of RAM. Consider if existing staff workstations require additional memory or need to be replaced. Patron OPAC stations do not usually require as much RAM as staff workstations, but they should be capable of supporting current browser versions of Internet Explorer or Netscape Navigator.

Revised Migration Equipment Specifications are now available. Please consult with your Technology Coordinator to ensure that your current workstations meet these requirements prior to transition to Version GL3.1.
