New Electronic Resources for
2003-2004 Libraries Connect Ohio (LCO), a combined effort of Ohio's three
library networks (INFOhio, OhioLINK, and OPLIN) under the leadership of the State Library of Ohio, was awarded LSTA funding for
new electronic resources for ALL Ohio citizens. On May 29, 2003, the State Library Board
approved the following resources for the 2003-2004 school year.The new resources will be additions
to INFOhio's Core Collection of Electronic Resources.
The seven new resourses will be presented as part of 30 regional INFOhio Fall Update
session being held in August, September and October. A list of sessions and a link for online
registration is available, as is a Toolkit
of materials and links related to the sessions.
- AccessScience - Based on the
McGraw-Hill Encyclopedia of Science & Technology, AccessScience is an updated
database delivering full access to more than 7,100 articles; 115,000 dictionary terms; and
hundreds of "Research Updates" in all areas of science and technology. Use AccessScience.
- AMICO Library - An online
image collection of paintings, sculptures, drawings, photographs,. textiles, costumes and
jewelry, decorative art, and more spanning humankind's creativity from earliest times to
the present. The AMICO Library represents a wide range of cultures, supporting social
studies and art. Use AMICO Library.
- Annals of American History
- More than 2,000 primary source documents and 700 pieces of multimedia from Encyclopaedia
Britannica. Use Annals of American
History.
- Literature Online from Chadwyck-Healey
- Full-text, searchable works available online to supplement your library's print
collections. Poetry, drama and fiction are included. Use Literature Online
- Enciclopedia Universal en Espaņol
- An online version of the well-respected Spanish language encyclopedia published by
Encyclopaedia Britannica. Use
Enciclopedia Universal
- NewsBank Newspapers - A
collection of full-text newspapers available online. More than 15 titles are Ohio
publications from big cities (Cleveland Plain Dealer, Cincinnati Enquirer)
to small towns (Port Clinton News Herald, Fremont News Messenger). Use NewsBank Newspapers.
- Oxford Reference Online - A wide
range of disciplines is the hallmark of this collection of more than 100 complete
reference titles. The resources are fully indexed and cross-searchable. Use Oxford Reference Online.
