Spectacular Biography Resources (New & Old) for All Curricular Areas

Come explore the powerful new biography resource,
Biography Reference Bank, with more than 550,000
biographies of people from all time periods, including today.
This tool also provides thousands of photos, links to numerous
full-text magazine articles and abstracts, and even primary
source documents from Speeches of the American Presidents.
We will also highlight resources from the new
World
Book Web and
SchoolRooms
and rediscover biographies from some other INFOhio resources
such as
SIRS
Discoverer, the
Digital Video
Collection, and
EBSCOhost. To top it off, we will share
resources for promoting biographies and biography assignments.
Discover how it is easier than ever to have an abundance of
quality biography information about the great men and women of
history for your students!

Core Collection of Electronic Resources. Learn information to share
with your colleagues and students. A fast-paced presentation with time for
questions, these products will be emphasized in the one-hour session:
Biography Reference Bank, Science Online, World Book Web products and
changes to EBSCOhost (Consumer Health Complete and the new
EBSCO 2.0 interface).

World Book Web for High School and Middle School

Book Web with us, emphasizing the
World Book Advanced (designed for high school,
college and graduate schools) and the new
World Book Student (designed for
upper elementary, middle school and beginning students in high
school). The presentation will highlight the 5,500 e-books
available, the 279,000 primary source documents, the classroom
research activities, and other features which make the
World Book Web a perfect fit for school at all levels.
See how you can use these materials to differentiate instruction
and get ideas on ways to use this resource at your school or in
your classroom. You will have time to ask questions about each

the new free promotional materials for libraries and classrooms.

Digital Video Collection and National
Underground Railroad Freedom Center: Learn What’s New!
October 29, 2008, 3:30-4:30 p.m.
Explore the recently added collection of digital content on
slavery and legacy of courage, cooperation and freedom embodied
in the history of the Underground Railroad from the
National
Underground Railroad Freedom Center in Cincinnati,
and discuss resources to enhance this video collection. We will
be connecting to the Freedom Center for this
program and will get to learn more about this fairly new museum
treasure in Ohio. Our hosts will be Richard Cooper, Interpretive
Services Manager, and Linda Johnson-Towles, eLearning Project
Manager.

INFOhio-delivered OAIMC
Digital Video
Collection of 322 videos, explore new features of
the collection and get an update on other new videos. It is
easier than ever to keep up-to-date on new videos as they are
added by subscribing to the newly available RSS feed.

SchoolRooms provides a single,
student-friendly interface to high-quality content from school
library catalogs, online databases, 3 million Best of Web
teacher-selected Web pages, as well as statewide digital
resources. Content is presented in virtual Rooms that
help students discover information, provide educators with
access to quality materials and enable parents to find
appropriate resources for improving their children's education.
This introduction to SchoolRooms includes student,
parent and teacher resources, as well as password information
for you to share with your faculty, parent groups and students.

Online: Explore INFOhio’s New Science Resource

Come and join INFOhio as we explore our new science database,
Science Online. From forensic science to global
warming, from tsunamis to invasive species, Facts on File's
Science Online offers relevant information for
today's students. With diagrams, experiments, news articles, a
science dictionary and focus sections in 10 science areas,
Science Online provides information defined by topics
and terms, images and videos, experiments, biographies and news
articles.
This session will provide applications for librarians and
teachers using Science Online to enhance and
develop student research skills. Join us for this informative
session to foster student understanding of today's science in an
ever-changing world.
