Universal en Español January 14, 2005 INFOhio relays this message from Encyclopaedia Britannica and is not responsible for the content or the reliability of Web links. Your INFOhio username and password may be needed to open some links. Dear Friends at INFOhio, OPLIN, and OhioLink, Happy New Year! I am very excited to send you a couple of announcements regarding major Britannica enhancements that have just been implemented:
All of the details are included in two announcements below. These enhancements took place this week, so you are welcome to share these announcements with your users anytime. Nancy Kopka and I would be happy to answer any questions you may have about these new features. The curriculum standards alignment is very significant, and we hope that it is helpful for Ohio schools as they integrate the Britannica resources into their curriculum. We have some IVDL training coming up for INFOhio, and we will discuss the standards alignment during those workshops. Best regards, and best wishes for a great 2005! Hilit Translate between Spanish and English in Enciclopedia Universal en Español. Britannica is pleased to announce a new feature included in the Spanish-language database, Enciclopedia Universal en Español. Now the Merriam-Webster Spanish-English and English-Spanish dictionaries are included in the database, so that students can translate between Spanish and English. This feature is available from INFOhio's Core Collection of Electronic Resources at http://www.infohio.org/ER/secure/spanish/infohio.asp and in the header of all other pages. To use this dictionary, choose the option for Español-Inglés, enter a word, and click the Ir button (Go). For example, to translate the Spanish word tema into English, select the Español-Ingles option, enter the word tema, and click the Ir button. It provides the translation in English: theme or subject. To translate the word history into Spanish, select the Español-Ingles option, enter the word history, and click the Ir button. It provides the translation in Spanish: historia. Please also note that the database includes a Spanish-language dictionary, to find complete word definitions in Spanish. This dictionary is called Diccionario or Diccionario en Español. Notice for all announcements: When clicking the above links to Britannica, you must be logged into Britannica, through INFOhio, OPLIN, or OhioLink. [Contact INFOhio at webmaster@infohio.org.] |
