Your INFOhio username and password may be needed to open some links. Dear Friends at INFOhio, OPLIN, and OhioLink, Happy New Year! I am very excited to send you a couple of announcements regarding major Britannica enhancements that have just been implemented:
All of the details are included in two announcements below. These enhancements took place this week, so you are welcome to share these announcements with your users anytime. Nancy Kopka and I would be happy to answer any questions you may have about these new features. The curriculum standards alignment is very significant, and we hope that it is helpful for Ohio schools as they integrate the Britannica resources into their curriculum. We have some IVDL training coming up for INFOhio, and we will discuss the standards alignment during those workshops. Best regards, and best wishes for a great 2005! Hilit New! Britannica Online School Edition is now aligned to Ohio's school standards! With just a few clicks of the mouse, Britannica provides educators quick, easy access to all state curriculum standards and benchmarks, with links to supporting encyclopedia articles from Comptons Encyclopedia by Britannica. Conveniently organized by subject and grade level, these articles, plus hundreds of printable and online curriculum-based learning activities, are ideal for use in the classroom, media center, or computer lab. This curriculum standard alignment helps schools using Britannica meet requirements for No Child Left Behind (NCLB). Britannica achieved this alignment to standards through its partnership with EdGate, a leading provider of tools and resources that assist educators in meeting the requirements of the NCLB legislation. Through Britannica Online School Edition, educators can access EdGates Curriculum Matrix, the premier database for lessons, assessments, and Internet resources directly linked to each state's standards. Developed by educators for educators, the Curriculum Matrix uniquely prioritizes standards based on both essential skills and state achievement tests. This matrix provides an easy way to find resources that support specific standards, including Britannica encyclopedia articles and instructional activities, as well as an expanded collection of curriculum activities provided by EdGate. To access the Curriculum Matrix, go to the Britannica Teacher Resources page by clicking the link in the header, or by clicking http://school.eb.com/browse/teachers. Click the Browse curriculum standards link, select your state, then select your grade and subject, click Find It, and your state's standards will be displayed. Click a standard to see the related materials. Here are some examples of encyclopedia articles that support specific curriculum standards:
