Technical setup delays availability of digital titles

A few technical problems are preventing the loading of of digital titles in INFOhio's K-12 Curriculum Resources Catalog (CRC). Once the vendor supplies the necessary software enhancements, Ohio's 24 Area Media Centers (AMCs) will offer 134 digital titles free to all Ohio K-12 students and teachers. The high-demand educational videos and related resources from 16 well-respected producers will be available at no cost throughout the state.

By including bibliographic records in the CRC with appropriate URLs, the programs can be streamed (watched live) over a high-speed Internet connection, downloaded to a local computer to use when appropriate to the curriculum, or "burned" on a CD by the AMC and delivered to your school. Those wishing to use the licensed digital titles must be registered with their local AMC. To set up a free account, follow the directions in the next section. When the technical problems are solved , INFOhio will post a message through our E-Lists and other communication venues.

Registration procedures for free use of AMC digital titles

  • If you have a client number and password for any Ohio AMC, you are ready to access the 134 digital titles, when they are available.
  • If you don't have an account, follow these steps:
    1. Determine the AMC nearest you by visiting the AMC Directory.
    2. Send an e-mail requesting a client number and password. Be sure to provide your school and district information.

LSTA Digital Titles for All Ohio K-12 Schools is a trifold brochure that explains more about the 134 digital titles and lists contact information about Ohio's 24 Area Media Centers. [PDF 2 pgs]

What's new with INFOhio's Media Booking software

With the installation of Medianet version 8.0 late in 2003, several improvements make Medianet even more powerful. For clients (users at the building level) bookings can now be extended from the Medianet Options button in the menu near the bottom of the screen. No longer does a client have to send e-mail or phone to add a few days to a booking.Of course, bookings can only be extended through open dates. Another feature users will appreciate is the new Resume Search button on the Shopping Cart screen that eliminates the need for the Back button to return to a search results list.

Version 8.0 adds several new features for media booking staff, as well. Among the improvements is improved procedures for generating PDF catalogs. Authority cleanup is streamlined with the addition of a global update feature. Media booking staff who have questions about any of the enhancements should contact Juanita Markham at INFOhio Technical Support.
