ID Task force and BGSU offer online course

INFOhio's Instructional Development Task Force and Bowling Green State University have teamed up to offer a one-credit graduate course, Classroom Identification of Electronic Resources. The online course will be offered June 16 through July 18, 2003. The course instructor is Sara Bushong, Assistant Professor and Head Librarian for the Curriculum Resources Center at BGSU's Jerome Library.

The course, an outgrowth of this year's Information Literacy Literacy Skills Workshops, will examine and evaluate electronic resources appropriate for K-12. Participants will also create projects that integrate electronic information resources into classroom experiences, usable in their classroom when school resumes in the fall.

For more information about the BGSU course and links to registration materials, visit the page on the INFOhio Web site.

InfoLit Skills Workshops series has sixth successful year

Almost 400 educators from throughout Ohio attended one of 13 locations for Connections for History: How to Use INFOhio Electronic Resources and the Web to Teach History. Professors Greg Byerly and Carolyn Brodie of Kent State University's School of Library and Information Science conducted the sessions. The workshop's three themes -- Global Connections, Current Events, and the Ohio Bicentennial -- were supplemented by a comprehensive notebook of Web sites related to history instruction for grades 4-12. An order form is available to purchase copies of the notebook.

Workshop participants were encouraged to subscribe to an E-List (listserv) devoted to sharing ideas and best practices related to the use of information literacy in standards-based classrooms. Anyone interested is welcome to participate. Join the list from the INFOhio Web site. At the Select a list menu, be sure to select infohio-info-lit-l.
