Fifteen online reference tools for various subjects and grade levels, free to all Ohio K-12 students and their parents.INFOhio announces 2008-2009 lineup
INFOhio's Core Collection of Electronic Resources will see more changes for the 2008-2009 school year than a new username and password. Several of the Collection's products will be new, replacing current resources. The changes will be effective July 1, 2008.

In one of the most significant changes to the Core Collection, World Book Web Complete Suite will replace the set of products currently provided by Encyclopaedia Britannica Corp.  (Annals of American History, Britannica Online School Edition, Enciclopedia Juvenil, Enciclopedia Universal en Español and World Data Analyst). Highlights of World Book Web Complete Suite include World Book Kids, World Book Online Reference Center, World Book Research Tools Edition and World Book Advanced. Spanish and French encyclopedias are part of the Suite, Enciclopedia Estudiantil Hallazgos and L’Encyclopedie Decouverte. Read more...

Other new products include Science Online from Facts On File (replacing AccessScience) and Biography Reference Bank from H.W. Wilson Co. (replacing American National Biography). Read more about the new products and the selection process Libraries Connect Ohio used to select them.

INFOhio adds features to SchoolRooms®
If you haven't checked out SchoolRooms recently, here's another reason to spend some time with this new discovery portal: INFOhio has added results from many of our Core Collection of Electronic Resources to search results. Not only can you and your students search among more than 22,000 Web sites selected by Ohio educators to support Academic Content Standards, results lists can link to magazine and newspaper articles, encyclopedia articles and more. INFOhio continues to evaluate SchoolRooms, so let us know what you think about our recent enhancements. Use the Help Evaluate section on the main lobby page.

Important News, Stories and More Links
Five videos from the National Underground Railroad Freedom Center are now part of the Digital Video Collection. Use your favorite method to search the DVC, or use the convenient QuickLink in the left frame of this newsletter. The videos can be downloaded or streamed, are aligned to Ohio's Academic Content Standards, and their records link to Web resources.

Members of the INFOhio and OhioLINK communities have combined efforts to ensure that Ohio's students have the information literacy skills they need for a successful transition from high school to college. A special task force has met to develop a white paper to distribute to decision makers and are compiling a list of action steps. Read the six goals of the task force... Part of this effort is INFOhio's Research Project Calculator. Testing of the Calculator continues from the INFOhio home page. Use the Suggestions link near the top of every INFOhio Web page to comment on this early version; choose Research Project Calculator from the dropdown menu.
