SLJ editor visits Ohio
Result: Feature article in February 2000 issue

Renée Olson, editor-in-chief of School Library Journal, spent several days in September 1999, traveling throughout Ohio with Theresa M. Fredericka, INFOhio Executive Director. Olson met with students, school library media specialists, classroom teachers, school administrators, Ohio Department of Education and other state officials, and leaders of Ohio's library community, all to learn more about INFOhio, the Information Network for Ohio Schools. Her visit was based on an invitation to visit Ohio from Ellen M. Stepanian, Director of Library Media for Shaker Heights City Schools.

Olson's research and interviews -- and all those miles -- have resulted in a feature article and an editorial about INFOhio in the February 2000 issue of School Library Journal. Each is also available on SLJ Online. The article's headline is  "Coming Soon to a School Near You." The editorial is titled "The Good Fight."

" I know that all those involved in INFOhio are pleased about SLJ's recognition of our dreams and efforts to make INFOhio a reality in the lives of students and teachers throughout Ohio," affirms Fredericka. "I am especially grateful to all those who helped explain INFOhio's story to Renée when she was in Ohio. It was a whirlwind trip, but the only way to explain the vast nature of what we are doing. Thank you to everyone who helped with Renée's visit; your participation was essential to making this national coverage of INFOhio possible."
