Add a Tag to a Record

 

 

Adding a New Tag to a Bibliographic Record

 

 

NOTE: Modifications to bibliographic records have statewide implications. If the change you are making is considered an enhancement, be sure to update the 040 tag with a source code to indicate that the record has been enhanced.

 

 

1.   Select “Create and Update Bibliographic Records.”

 

2.   Locate the matching bibliographic record.

 

            Enter the record number if you know it (00-0000000).

                OR

            Press PF2 to perform an online catalog search for the record.

 

Press Y at the prompt, “Is this the correct record?” when you have located the matching bibliographic record.

 

      The prompt “Field to modify” will display at the bottom of the screen.

 

3.      Press PF4 and the prompt, “Tag to add” will display.

 

4.   Enter the tag number you wish to add.

 

NOTE: If you don’t remember the tag number, but recall the name of the tag, press PF4 for a list of all the various tags.

                                                           

When adding new tags, MultiLIS will usually display the first default subfield for you. If you need additional subfields, you must enter them.

 

Be sure to adhere to proper punctuation and subfield use.
