Adding an Item to a Record
1. Select “Add Items.”
2. Locate the matching bibliographic record.
Enter the record number if you know
it (00-0000000).
OR
Press PF2 to perform an online
search for the record.
Press
Y at the prompt, “Is this the correct record?”
The
prompt “Item Number” will display at
the bottom of the screen.
3. Enter the item number at the prompt.
An item workform will display.
· General location is mandatory. Always press ENTER.
NOTE:
If
you utilize “Frog” to move between buildings, the location to which you have
frogged will display. This can be edited once you have completed the first
seven fields. If you key in the correct location but it is not the location to
which you are frogged, you will generate a “Pending Transfer” status that is
not easily changed.
· Shelf number prompt
If all
shelf numbers in the selected collection code have the same prefix (such as R
in a reference collection) DO NOT
enter it as part of the shelf number. MultiLIS will insert it in the display of
all call numbers in that collection. (This feature is activated by your DASite
provider.)
SELECT will display the shelf numbers
of other items attached to this bibliographic record if any exist.
ENTER will enter the shelf number from
the 082 tag if one exists.
PF1 will allow you to skip the shelf
number field.
· Volume should
adhere to district policies. It is generally the number without the indication
of volume or part.
NOTE: Complete the first seven fields and the prompt “Field to Modify” will display at the bottom of the screen. Type in the number of the line you want to correct and make the change.
4. Press PF1 to return to the “Add Items” screen, when you have finished filling out the item
workform.
5. Repeat steps 3 and 4 for each item to be added to the bibliographic record.
