Searching / Copying a Bibliographic Record at Your DASite

NOTE: This is an optional step between searching your bank and the INFOhio Union Catalog. This step may be more efficient at a larger DASite than at a smaller one.

1.  Select “Create and Update Bibliographic Records.”

2.  Select “Create a Record.”

3.  Select “Copy a record.”

NOTE: This will automatically allow you to search in all banks at the DASite.

4.   Search the online catalog to locate a matching bibliographic record.

NOTE: Check the record number in the upper left of the screen. Make sure it’s not from your bank.

5.      Press Y at the prompt, “Is this the correct record?” if you locate a matching bibliographic record.

The matching record will be copied immediately to your bank.

The newly copied bibliographic record will display on your screen.

NOTE: The new record number will display in the upper left corner of the screen. Below the new record number is another record number, followed by a “T.” This is the record number of the bank from which it was copied.

6.  Locate the item field in the record.

7.  Enter the line number at the prompt, “Field to Modify.”

NOTE: The item field is located near the end of the record.

8.  Enter the item number that is being placed on the item.

     Complete the item record.
