Adding
a Bibliographic Record to Your Bank – Overview
This
document will help you understand the different ways to add bibliographic
records to your bank.
Search for a matching
bibliographic record in your bank
Always search your online catalog for the record. If you locate a matching cataloging record, add an additional item to the matching bibliographic record.
Search for a
matching bibliographic record at your DASite
(optional)
If you can’t locate a matching bibliographic record
in your bank, you can copy a bibliographic record from other districts in your
DASite.
If you can’t locate a matching bibliographic record in your bank, you can export the record from the INFOhio Union Catalog, which contains over a million records and is updated daily.
Copy a record
from the Library of Congress
If you can’t locate a matching bibliographic record
in the INFOhio Union Catalog, you can download the record from the Library of
Congress.
Submit an OCLC
Record Request
If you can’t locate a matching bibliographic record
in the INFOhio Union Catalog or the Library of Congress, you can utilize the
OCLC Record Request procedure. This will result in a brief bibliographic record
that will be placed in your bank immediately. A full bibliographic record will
replace the brief record, when the request is filled by INFOhio staff.
